Our 5th Version of the Congress and its History

With more than 265,000 members in more than 170 countries, Project Management Institute (PMI), created the year 1969 and whose principal head office is located in Pennsylvania, USA, it is the main world association in the standardization of the norms and best professional practices in the project management discipline (www.pmi.org)

As an institution dedicated to the formal organizational evolution of companies and businesses relating to project management in all the world’s hemispheres, PMI determined from 2005, the annual development of an International Seminar at the Southern Cone Chapters level (Peru, Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay and Chile), aiming to integrate members, professional communications, managerial contact networks and this discipline, in a common professional effort oriented towards improving and satisfying information needs from regional relevancy topics.

The 5th version of LA Congress, whose topic in the current year 2009 is about Tendencies in Project, Programs and Portfolio Management, will be held according to the following calendar:

  • November 2, Arequipa (Peru)
  • November 6, Santiago (Chile)
  • November 7, Mendoza (Argentina)
  • November 9, Buenos Aires (Argentina)
  • November 11, Montevideo (Uruguay)
  • November 13, Antofagasta (Chile)
  • November 16, Asuncion (Paraguay)

The purpose of 2009 LA Congress scopes the active participation of top authorities of PMI GOC (Project Management Institute, Global Operation Center), of each of the brothers Chapters Presidents of Region 13 (our area in world segmentation), members, project managers, independent professionals and businessmen in the event agendas to be developed in all nearby Chapters according to topics established for this International Seminar, aiming to share experiences with regional vision and to add value to Project management discipline in applied way.

There are many reasons determining the participation of businessmen and professionals, Chilean and foreign who, like you, look for updates on tendencies in project management hand in hand of the best exponents in the area, even more thinking that our event summons the representatives and authorities of many national and international organizations, which have been searching to improve their practices and, for which, they have developed more rigorous methodologies and processes which finally allow establishing the best way of tackling organization projects.

We invite you to the most important event of the year that PMI Santiago Chile Chapter organizes, the 5th version of South Latin-American Tour of Project Management (LA Congress) Antofagasta Branch, which, organized by the Chapter, will count on the participation of outstanding international and national personalities, with broad experience, who will tackle the topic “Tendencies in Project, Program, and Portfolio management”, with current impact and relevance this discipline has reached in the whole world for competitive development of our companies.

Audience:

This seminar is aimed at company managers, project managers, executives of companies of different industrial, professional sectors who manage both national and international projects, as well as at all those immersed in project management, with the firm intention of tackling the programs and organizing the project portfolio that carries out the expected result in their business

Also, it is aimed at university professionals in engineering, academicians in project management discipline, member of projects teams, certified PMPs, academicians of the main national universities with experience in the area and, in general, professionals linked to project management activities in their work.
